International BiCon Thread

One of the results of Marcus's visit to this was his BiCon Organisers Manifesto...

Do we know of anyone from the UK going to IBC8 (or ICB8) ?

I'm severely tempted...

I'm likely to be. The last international BiCon I went to in the US was in Boston and that was great. There were about 1000 people there (although it didn't feel as busy since you saw about as many people in sessions as you do at UK BiCons). There were fascinating people, good discussion on personal, community and political levels and a friendly, stinulating and at times inspiring atmosphere.

As I have friends in Minneapolis I'm now coming round to being certain I'll be there. The fact that it's just a few weeks before the UK BiCon is an especial point in the plan's favour. (Very Happy image)

I might be, but I am afraid this international bi-conference is too big for me.

I think the programme of the first North-American -regional- conference was absolutely fabulous. I did not attend that conference because I didn't need the event that much in my life.

Sometimes you know something will get you on the move, like a bi-conference. This year I think this IBC8 might just be perfect for me. I am more into travelling than ever and am still looking for inspiration in the bi-community.

To bi continued...

Does anyone know if there is going to be a third European Bicon? I heard Germany might be organising it, but I'm totally out of the German loop right now

Hi David,

EBC3 might be taking place in Germany, but it also might not... The three members of the board of the German bisexual network, BiNe e.V., Kai, Andreas and Hartmut were enthusiastic about it themselves.

I don't know how the German network members and their friends think about it. The opinion from the group of people who usualy organise the German bisexual seminars twice a year, see: http://bine.net/seminare/semiorga.html (information in German only) is very important, because they have the knowledge of how to organise bi-gatherings in Germany now.

As far as I know, Kai, Andreas and Hartmut don't seem to have the experience in organising an international conference. I am afraid there isn't that much interest in organising the third bisexual conference by the other German bi-activists than these three brave men, but I am not sure. Some members of the European Bisexual Network already told the Germans that they are going to help them with organising. Maybe that helps.

I am going to look for more recent information!

Thanks - I'll check it out. The German bis organised a very successful IBC back in 96.

The international conference now has discussion forums running, remarkably like the ones here.
